How to configure IDM to work with FileSonic site?
All sharing functionality on FileSonic is now disabled. Currently this site can only be used to upload and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally.
1. Please make sure that you have installed the latest version of IDM. Old versions before 6.09 build 3 have a bug with processing of cookies and may not work with sharing sites. FileSonic often changes its logic, but the latest version of IDM has all necessary updates.
2. If you have a Premium FileSonic account, you need to do the following:
2.1. You need to add your login and password for FileSonic in "Options->Sites Logins" dialog. Press "New" to add a new entry (arrow 1 on the image). You need to use "filesonic.com" as server name (arrows 2 on the image):

2.2. Please note that in some cases downloads you started in old versions of IDM (earlier than 5.19), may not be able to finish. Unfortunately you will need to delete such downloads and add them again in a new version of IDM.
2.3. When IDM starts downloading HTML files then maybe your FileSonic account has expired. You need to try to login in your account and check that everything is in order. Also IDM downloads a web page if a file had been already removed from the site. You should try to download a file with your browser. Hold "Alt" key while clicking on a download link to tell IDM that it should not catch the download. Then you should see a web page with explanation of this problem.
2.4. Please do not use & and # characters or other special characters in your password. If you use them, log in to Filesonic site and change your password so that it contains neither # nor & characters.
3.1. Don't try to download FileSonic links directly from other sites via browser context menu:
4. Also if you use FireFox problems may happen if you use extensions from third party companies to transfer downloads in IDM, for example Flashgot. IDM can perfectly detect downloads itself but if you really want to use Flashgot, at least update it to the latest version.
3.2. You need to click the link to go through FileSonic site and click on the download button to get the real download link there:
Then you need to click on the button and wait the necessary time:

And finally get download button that leads to the real download link:
3.3. It is important! Trial account settings on Filesonic do not allow requesting the same file twice. If you just click on the button, the browser makes the first request of the file and then when IDM tries to request the same file again, the site sends a web page to IDM instead of the real file. If you use Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, now you need to use "Download with IDM" browser context menu item:
To take over this download from other browsers you have to set a special key in "IDM Options->General->Keys...". Note that "Ins" key should work for most browsers.
Please read here how to configure such keys. When you will enter a CAPTCHA and get the real download link, you need to press and hold this key while clicking on download link so that IDM could take over the download before the first browser request.
3.4. You need to enable "Start downloading immediately while displaying 'Download file info' dialog" option in "Options->Downloads" dialog (if it is disabled). When downloaded is started, please don't pause it. Don't use "Start Download Later" button on "Start Download Info" dialog.
3.5. Problem may also happen if you use some proxy. It is better if you not use any proxy at all. If you absolutely cannot avoid using proxy, you should use the same proxy in your browser and in IDM.
Otherwise, the site will think that you use different IPs for this download and download will fail because for trial account a temporary link can be downloaded only once from a single IP address. Please note that the same relates to different applications that try to control your internet traffic
and acts like local proxy. It can be some kind of FireWall/Antivirus or other security applications. If you use your browser via such application, you should use IDM via it as well.
5. If IDM still does not download from FileSonic this means that you did something wrong in previous steps. Please check again.
