IDM downloading problems when using https or ssl in Windows XP

Q. When I am trying to download a video, I receive "An error occurred while creating security connection" message. How it can be fixed?

Reason

Nowdays more and more web sites switch to stronger encryption, and they start to require the usage of modern encryption protocols only. Because new updates for Windows XP are not released, Windows XP does not support latest encryption protocols. IDM relies on OS cryptographic libraries when downloading https content, and IDM will have downloading problems when OS lacks support of latest encryption protocols.

Solutions

There are 2 possible solutions of this problem

1. Please update your OS to Windows 10. We highly recommend this solution.

2. You can update cryptographic libraries of Windows XP unofficially. We don't recommend this solution because this particular problem will be resolved, but your OS remains vulnerable to many other security issues.

This is unofficial technology to get update for XP from Windows XP POSReady 2009 operating system.

You need to install KB3055973-v3 or KB3081320 update.

It is installed either via update center the way it is described in the article above, or you may follow the steps below

2.1 You need to create the following registry key
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]
    "Installed"=dword:00000001
You can add the text above to setkey.reg file and run it to create this registry key. Or you can use files inside set XP key zip file.

2.2 Then you should download English version of KB3055973-v3 here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48214

2.3 Then install this update

2.4 Then "PosReady" registry key should be deleted with reg file below, or run "deletekey.reg" from zip file downloaded on step 2.1 
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]
2.5 Then reboot your PC and try to download with IDM again.
