You can test your installer translation by following these steps:
- Backup your "inst_xx.lng" installer translation file first!
- Download and install the latest version of IDM
- Run Installer "idman6xx.exe". At first step kill processes "idman6xx.exe" and "IDM1.tmp" from the Task Manager.
- Find temporary folder for IDM installation:
- for Window XP "C:\Documents and Settings\[user_name]\Local Settings\Temp\IDM_Setup_Temp\"
- for Vista, Windows 7, 8 and
Windows 10 "C:\Users\[user_name]\AppData\Local\Temp\IDM_Setup_Temp\"
- Copy your "inst_xx.lng" installer translation file to this folder as "IDM900.lng"
- Run Installer "idman6xx.exe" again.
Please note that after each test, temporary folder may be deleted. Thus please backup your installer translation file before doing any tests.
Also you can simulate clean IDM install if you temporary rename registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DownloadManager
to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DownloadManager2
to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DownloadManager2
After the test you can delete newly created key "DownloadManager" and then rename old key "DownloadManager2" back to "DownloadManager".
In order to test IDM uninstaller, copy your "inst_xx.lng" installer translation file to "Languages" subfolder located in IDM root folder, and simply run "Uninstall.exe" from IDM root folder.
Please note that after each test for uninstaller, IDM root folder may be deleted. Thus please backup your *.lng files first.
